Q: How much does the venue cost and what’s included?
A: See our Weddings Page for transparent pricing. No hidden fees.

Q: How many guests can we invite?
A: The barn comfortably accommodates up to 200 guests.

Q: What is the deposit to reserve our date?
A: $1,000 non-refundable event retainer ($2,000 for weekend package) due at booking.

Q: When is the balance due?
A: 30 days before your event.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Cash, check, Venmo, or credit card.

Q: Do we need liability insurance?
A: Yes. A $1,000,000 event policy naming Blue Heron Barn LLC as additional insured is required 30 days prior. We recommend Angie at Nulty Insurance.

Q: Is there a damage deposit?
A: Yes, $500 refundable, due 30 days before your event.

Q: What are the venue access hours?
A:

  • Friday/Saturday: 10 a.m.–11 p.m. (vendors out by midnight)

  • Sunday: 12 p.m.–8 p.m. (vendors out by 9 p.m.)

  • Weekend Package: Friday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–11 p.m., Sunday pickup 8–10 a.m.

  • Events may not exceed 7 hours from ceremony start to reception end.

Q: Can we have a rehearsal at the venue?
A: Yes, Thursday before your event for $100/hour (first come, first served).

Q: Is the barn heated and air conditioned?
A: Yes, to keep guests comfortable during Michigan temps

Q: Can we bring our own caterer?
A: Yes, if licensed and insured (proof due 30 days prior). All food must be prepared off-site unless caterer brings their own equipment.

Q: Are linens and place settings provided?
A: White or black tablecloths are included. Place settings must be rented or purchased separately (disposables allowed).

Q: Can we bring our own alcohol?
A: No. All alcohol must be purchased and served by The Liquor Cabinet (see Exclusive Bartender).

Q: Is overnight parking allowed?
A: Yes, for guest safety. Vehicles must be picked up by 10 a.m. next day.

Q: Where are the closest hotels?
A: Only 6 miles away — see Recommended Hotels list.

Q: Will a staff member be on site?
A: Yes, a venue coordinator will be present, plus parking attendants and a golf cart for elderly/disabled guests.

Q: Are candles allowed?
A: No open flames.

Q: Are sparklers allowed?
A: Yes, for outdoor send-offs.

Q: Can we bring our pets?
A: With prior approval. Service dogs are always welcome.

Q: Is there a policy for weddings with children?
A: Yes. For weddings with 10 or more children, a babysitter must be hired to be onsite during the event.

Q: Do you have high chairs?
A: No, guests must bring their own.

Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: Only in the designated smoking area.

Q: Is the barn handicap accessible?
A: Yes.
